Mary Schmitt Boyer is an award-winning sportswriter, a general assignment sports reporter, and a feature writer for the Plain Dealer. She has specialized in covering basketball and the Olympics and has served as president of the Association for Women in Sports Media and secretary-treasurer of the Pro Basketball Writers Association. She is the author or coauthor of several other sports books, including The Inside Game. Doug Dieken is a former offensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns.
