About the Author

Charles Dickens was born February 7, 1812. A devout Christian, he began writing Christmas tales in The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club. By the 1840s he had written a slew of novellas known collectively as the Christmas Books: A Christmas Carol (1843), The Chimes (1844), The Cricket on the Hearth (1845), The Battle of Life (1846), and The Haunted Man (1848).
