NOOK Book and NOOK App Gifts

eGifting - purchasing NOOK Books and NOOK Apps as Gifts

Giving a digital gift is quick and easy - we call it eGifting! NOOK Books and NOOK Apps can be eGifted to anyone with a valid email address. You do not need a NOOK to purchase a digital gift.

To eGift a NOOK Book or NOOK App, click the "Buy as Gift" link under the "Buy Now" button on the product page. You will have the opportunity to enter your gift recipient's email address and an optional gift message. You may preview the eGift email before purchasing. When you are ready to place your order, just click the "Buy Now" button.

Your eGift recipient will receive a notification of their gift at the email address you provide. You will receive an email notifying you when your eGift recipient has claimed their gift.

Scheduling Delivery of eGifts

You have the option to select a date that you would like the eGift email to be delivered. You may set the delivery date up to one year from the date you place your order. The email will be sent to your gift recipient's inbox in the early morning hours on the date you selected.

Paying for eGifts

In order to purchase an eGift, you must sign in and enter a default credit card. If you don't have an account, don't worry. After you click "Buy as Gift" you'll be asked to create an account. If you have an account, but don't have a default credit card, you'll be asked to select a credit card or enter a new one. Either way, completing your purchase only takes a matter of seconds the first time. After that, it's almost instantaneous.

Your payment method will only be charged once: when you place your eGift order.

Viewing eGift Orders

You can see the eGifts that you've purchased in your Order Status. Click the "Check your order" link next to the order you want to view.

Receiving a NOOK Book or NOOK App eGift

If you've received a NOOK Book or NOOK App eGift:
  1. Click the "Claim your eGift" button in your gift notification email. Your web browser will open your eGift page on BN.com.
  2. If you are not logged in to BN.com, click the "Sign In to Redeem" button to log in or click the "Create an account" link to create a new BN.com account.
  3. Review the NOOK devices and NOOK Free Reading Apps on which your eGift may be accessed.
  4. Click "Accept Gift" to claim your gifted NOOK Book or NOOK App. Your NOOK Book or NOOK App will now be available from your NOOK Library.
  5. If you do not yet have a NOOK or NOOK Free Reading App, you will have the opportunity to download a Free Reading App after you accept your gift.

Exchange a NOOK Book or NOOK App eGift for a BN.com eGift Card Purchased on BN.com

If you would prefer to exchange your NOOK Book or NOOK App eGift purchased on BN.com for a Barnes & Noble eGift Card, you may do so before accepting your gift by following these steps:
  1. Click the "Claim your eGift" button in your gift notification email.
  2. If you are not logged in to BN.com, click the "Sign In to Redeem" button to log in or click the "Create an account" link to create a new BN.com account.
  3. Click "Exchange for BN eGift Card" to receive an eGift Card instead of the NOOK Book or NOOK App.
  4. You will receive an email with your eGift card information that may be used towards any future purchases on BN.com and in Barnes & Noble stores.
The value of your eGift Card is based on the amount the gift giver paid for your digital gift.

Digital content purchased in Barnes & Noble retail stores cannot be returned or exchanged.
